Student Activities at Gothenburg British School (GBS)

Learning Beyond the Classroom
GBS is adapting courses, both during the regular school day and after school, that allow students to learn in their communities. The aim of these courses is to fully engage students by harnessing their natural interest in where and how they live, while using their own community as a source of learning and action.

UIS Clubs
Teaching, learning, and innovation at GBS places design and computational thinking, cutting-edge robotics, coding, and digital influences at the core of all learning experiences. GBS Clubs are a powerful and enjoyable way to engage our students inside and outside the school.

Creative and Performing Arts
We nurture energetic creativity and value the Performing and Creative Arts as a critical learning tool that helps develop well-rounded individuals and encourages skills that are vital for success later in life.

Sport and Wellbeing
We encourage all our students, whatever the age, to achieve their full potential, whilst ensuring a commitment to fair play and encouraging a philosophy of team spirit. We believe participating in sport helps create balanced individuals, leading to a healthy mind, body, and soul.

Before School Activities
These programmes are not mandatory but we highly encourage students to participate in them as they are areas of learning not strictly developed in the classroom but that add value to individual competency.

Interest-Based Activities
Our interest-based activities are provided as both co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. These activities give our students the chance to develop their skills in new and interesting fields, in addition to giving them the chance to learn through real-life experience.

After School Activities
After-school activities play an important role in a student’s school life, as the social and emotional skills they often develop through these activities are linked to their interest in school.

Specialist Clubs
At UIS we make every effort to understand each individual child’s strengths, a range of specialist clubs provide enhanced guidance and training to students, helping them enhance their skills in their particular field of interest.
